Mine, too.

It was their second Australian hit single.

Australian people in Australia in 1976 who listened to pop radio were very lucky people.

I love that song. Yes, they were very lucky.

Delightful song. I recall hearing it on the radio, but it didn't have a great impact on the charts - from the up and coming band. There were so many catchy pop tunes from the 70's floating around.

Hmmmmmmmm...you're right. Empty Pages only hit #43, as did their next Aussie single, the great Do What You Do.

However...

All us scientific types know that Australia is upside down so the bottom of the charts would actually be the top of the charts. Congratulation, Air Supply on your smash hit Empty Pages!

How about all of the non-Australian people living in Australia and listening to pop radio in 1976? Were they lucky too? I just thought I’d ask.

LOL.

Which leads to the question...if the pages were empty, how hard were they, really, to read all through?

Not many people outside OZ know this, but, just this week, Empty Pages received one of the most prestigious Australian Music Industry Awards in history - the song was inducted into the 2010 Worldwide Rock N Roll Anagram Hall Of Fame. :clown:

I love both versions of this song, but can't pick a favourite between the original and the re-recording.

Both versions are great. Myself, I prefer the original recordings of the songs on L&OB in almost every case, simply because there's more going on musically. Iovine and the studio musicians, many of them from Rod Stewart's touring band at the time, brought a polished, professional sheen to the songs in hopes of making it to U.S. radio but I think they sacrificed some of the originality and the musicianshi in the process. I do prefer the re-recorded Do It Again and I like Graham's vocals on What A Life over Jeremy's but I prefer the music on the original.

One of my favorite '70s songs.
